But this area, as the docs are quick to point out, is not for public consumption. Although they themselves view cosmetic dentistry as no greater indication of personal vanity than getting a facelift, all that bleaching and bonding is still cloaked in a veil of secrecy.

"The world expects that as we age, our skin tone changes, our faces sag, body parts sag—that's universal," says Lowenberg. "But in terms of teeth, there is more pride attached to it. I've never known one celebrity, other than Kathy Lee, who has admitted to having cosmetic dental work done."

So while they feel fairly comfortable confirming that a particular star is a client, procedural specifics are verboten. "You can ask whether I capped Amber Valleta's teeth—which, by the way, I did not," says Lowenberg. "But I couldn't say that I did."

Not to worry—the man has plenty to talk about, Amber or no Amber. At 51, Lowenberg has amassed 25 years of hilarious anecdotes to draw from. And Lituchy, who turns 38 shortly and has developed an ardent following of fashionistas, is quickly catching up.

The two, who have been partners for seven years and best friends for several more, have formed the tight bond that comes from working alongside each other day in and day out. And it's evident within five minutes in their company that they love what they do. That's
