Following the op, Jodie's gums take six weeks to heal, then veneers are fitted to straighten and whiten her teeth. Each tooth is roughed up and the enamel reduced by ½ mm. Temporary veneers are attached which Jodie wears overnight to decide if anything needs to be changed. With no alterations necessary, the permanent veneers are then bonded in place and set using light beams. The whole process costs just over 13,000 euros.

With her newly straight teeth, Jodie and I head downtown to shoot her first 'smiling' story. Examining the Polaroids with glee, Jodie wonders out loud if Drs. Lowenberg and Lituchy might like a copy of a print for their ever-increasing wall of fame. We decide that they deserve one and I make a note to send it off in the next post.
