"Women who are demure want teeth that are demure...not teeth to scream, like Whitney Houston's. Those who benefit most from this trendy procedure, he says, are women who have crooked teeth, spaces or gaps between their teeth or plain old yellow teeth. The maintenance, he says, is low and only involves a cleaning twice a year, along with brushing and flossing daily. Flashing such pearly whites, however, comes at a price. Nationally, porcelain veneers range from $900 to a whopping $20,000 depending on the number of teeth being done. The going rate per tooth for New York City, says Lowenberg, is anywhere between $750 and $2,000 and up to $27,000 for an entire mouthful. With so much money at stake, we asked two Thersday readers to volunteer to put themselves in Lowenberg's hands and report on the procedure for us. Here are their stories. To contact Dr. Lowenberg call (212) 586-2890. |
